7A – Testing the Hypoothesis, Part 1

1) Opportunity: Business Coaching

2)
The Who: Small Businesses ,or Solo Entrepreneurs.
The What: Business owners struggling to grow there business.
The Why: Business owners with a lack of experience.

3)
Testing the Who: Anybody who owns a business or would like to start a business is in "the who" but people with less experience are more likely to have a need for a business coach. Possible people who might need this could include more experienced business owners who happen to be entering a completely new area they are unfamiliar with, such as opening a restaurant and using this service will benefit them.
Testing the What: Most business fail and part of that reason is because small business owners tend to make mistakes they are unaware off.
Testing the Why: A lot of people who start business don't go to business school or have never worked for a massive company and they lack the knowledge that comes with years of experience.

4)
Interview 1: In this interview I asked a UCF student if he ever started a business do you think it would be helpful to hire a business coach. He replied "it might be helpful but I most likely would never hire one, it also depends on how much it would cost".

Interview 2: In this interview I asked a FIU business student If he would ever hire a business coach. He said "I probably would if I ever started a business, I think having that early insight could help me a lot especially in the beginning stages".

Interview 3: In this interview I asked an owner of a small business in Gainesville if he would have found it beneficial to hire a business coach when he first started his business. He said "it would have been beneficial because their was a lot of information I did not know when I first opened my business and having someone their to ask questions would have helped".

Interview 4: In this interview I asked a UF business student if he would ever hire a business coach if he ever decided to start a business. He said "maybe depending on what type of business I was starting and what location I was starting it in, if the location was unfamiliar to me I might be more inclined to hire one".

Interview 5: In this interview I asked a online student and full time employee if he would ever hire a business coach. His response was "probably not because I don't think I would need one. I can research all the information I would need to know".

5) Summary: These interviews prove to me that in the early stages of starting a business it would be beneficial to have a business coach. While also people are still hesitant on hiring a business coach either because of cost or belief it will be unnecessary.

Comments

  1. I recommend proof reading your post, as there were a few grammatical mistakes. Also, I believe your interviews could have gone into more detail. If you were to do this, your conclusion might be something more in depth that you could learn from in order to run your successful business coaching company. Overall, I still liked the idea of questioning small business owners on if they have used a business coach, was it successful, or if they regret not using one.
