18A – Create a Customer Avatar

Image
My typical customer is 30 years old male, opening up their first business. They drive a car that gets good gas mileage but still is a nice car to drive maybe a Toyota Camry. He is either engaged or recently married. He also may have one young child under 3 years old. He does not associate himself with a particular political party. I think me any my typical customer will both want to be our own boss. I think most people who start a business typically like the idea of being their own boss, so I don't think its a coincidence that we share this in common.

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

Steve Jobs, by Walter Isaacson 1) What surprised me the most was how he treated his employees when they did not live up to his expectations. I most admired his ability to see a vision of a product, and go out and fulfill his vision. I least admired how he treated some of his employees or the people working with him, because he could easily be difficult to work with and also blow up on the person belittling them. Steve Jobs was kicked out of apple and he went on to find success outside of apple through Pixar and other projects. 2) His core competency was that he was a visionary. In order to achieve his visions he was a perfectionist, every detail needed to be perfect and he never took short cuts on anything. He also was a showman, he had an ability to take ideas and get people to understand his vision through presentations. 3) The parts of the reading that confused me the most was a lot of the tech stuff the book was talking about early on in the book, especially about the Macin...

14A – Halfway Reflection

1) Developing time management skills I believe is important to keep up with the requirements of this course. Since the class is all online you really need to plan out a schedule to watch all your lectures and plan sufficient time for all your assignments. 2) Early on in the semester I had accidentally set my blogger profile to private and it caused me too loose out on 9 points that week, it was a minor set back but nonetheless I must keep pushing through and not let it discourage me to give up. 3) The three tips to incoming students taking this class would be to have good time management, don't give up easily, and don't be afraid to ask for help.

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

1) My segment is business owners with little experience, its hard to fit them into one particular segment because business owners tend to overlap segments. 2) Interview #1 - A past restaurant owner who's business had failed. He said he was roughly putting 60 hours a week working at his restaurant. He had no prior experience in the restaurant business when he first opened the restaurant. When asked if he had external help when he started he replied that he went to a town meeting lead by experienced local restaurateurs who helped give guidance to any new businesses. He said with out that help he would have had trouble getting his business started. When asked what his solution was when his business started to struggle he said he seek help form the same people but in the end it still did not matter as I closed the restaurant down after roughly 2 years. Interview #2 - A current business owner who runs a shop. He is working 50 hours a week in his shop. He also had no prior experien...
